Letter on Covid situation from Roger Armstrong, Camp Manager

The Bethany Park Trust Board, staff , Sue and myself have spent a lot of time considering the whole Covid situation and have not rushed into the decisions that we have made to remain open to the general public. We are following the government directions and those from Holiday Parks NZ in the way we are handling the running of the camp. There has not been a mandatory vaccine directive from Government for campgrounds and they have left it up to each business to decide for themselves.

From a practical perspective it is impossible for us to implement a 100% no jab no stay as everybody 12years and above would need to produce a vaccine certificate to come on site. That would mean 24/7 security on all accesses to the camp to control everybody moving in and out of the park.

We have implemented changes in the Camp ( you can read this on our Covid response News item) which will help the situation but it will still come down to each person being responsible for their own health. We are encouraging those campers who are not comfortable with the direction that we are taking to perhaps for this summer look to cancel their booking. We will refund all deposits or we can forward book to 2023.

We are not promoting an anti-vax cause, our stance is one of inclusiveness.

We are doing the best we can in this challenging environment which is affecting everybody in Aotearoa. Thank you for your understanding and please contact us if you have any concerns.

Kind Regards,

Roger Armstrong

Bethany Park Camp Manager
